Ghostbusters, 1984 science fiction, action and comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, who also perform. The story shows three parapsychologists and eccentric college professors who, after losing their research funds at Columbia University in New York, set up a company specializing in supernatural apparitions. Among its trademarks are its base in a disused fire department building, its car, a customized 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ambulance called the Ecto-1 and its forbidden logo on the design of a frightened ghost. Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), is the coolest and most calculating group member, and a genius Ph.D. scientist, is addicted to paranormal science and research, creator of the group's equipment alongside Ray, but also laconic, clumsy and shy.
