With 4th place on the grid, and a difficult start, Ayrton Senna, who had the rain as an ally, turned the game around with precise overtaking, moving from 5th to 1st in less than a lap, once again marking the history of motorsport worldwide.
In a race marked by several pit-stops, Ayrton Senna also achieved the best lap with his final card: he gained time using the pit lane, which shortened the track. Such a special race that Bernie Ecclestone considered the best day of the driver's career!
Years later, Ayrton Senna was honored with a plaque at the Donington Museum: “THE GREATEST LAP OF THE CENTURY” to commemorate his beautiful victory at the racecourse.
