Ghostbusters, 1984 science fiction, action and comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, who also perform. The story shows three parapsychologists and eccentric college professors who, after losing their research funds at Columbia University in New York, set up a company specializing in supernatural apparitions. Among its trademarks are its base in a disused fire department building, its car, a customized 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ambulance called the Ecto-1 and its forbidden logo on the design of a frightened ghost. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), who specializes in parapsychology and Ph.D. in psychology, but his irreverent posture and womanhood make him widely regarded as a fake, charlatan and cheater. In contrast, its ability to manipulate people who help both the public image of the group and the negotiation in adverse situations.
